I Hope He Brought Some Friends

The passion flower has reached an enormous height this year in spite of the heat.

I found one caterpillar of the Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) butterfly variety this morning. There he is way up high in the vine - my apologizes for the fuzzy photo. Heat and the fires in Texas have not been friendly conditions for our butterfly friends this year. A butterfly (or caterpillar in this case) sighting is a very special event.

  1. Your passion vine is definitely taller than mine! I think our cold wet spring stunted the growth on mine this year...it's not anywhere near the size it usually gets. But then nothing in my gardens are doing all that great this year so it must be a trend here :(
