Herb Garden

Added a few more herbs to the herb garden. Mexican Mint Marigold (Tagetes lucida aka Texas Tarragon) , French Tarragon (Artemisia dracunculus), and Omega Flax* (Linum usitatissimum). I hope the herb garden has enough drainage so the French Tarragon will survive our hot, humid summers but have planted the Mexican Mint Marigold, just in case. The flax are little spindly plants but I hope they are hardy enough to possible self-sow and return next spring.

So far I have not been real impressed with the "rose soil mix" purchased from the local company. I chose this blend for the sand and compost in the mixture. So far, the plants have not grown much and the mixture actually seems rather sterile. The pesky elm seeds that have blanketed the area are not sprouting in it either. Going to have to add some nutrients.

  1. Perhaps you would like some of my own patented death soil I have in my yard. It will make you rose soil mix shudder in shame and fear.

  2. I think it looks good, Cindy, but a watched pot never boils. So maybe it's the same thing with watching an herb garden grow!:)

  3. Thanks for the encouragement, ladies. However, the artichokes at my part-time job are twice as big as mine. I suffer from artichoke envy.
